Welcome to 3B! The following is some information about your new classroom.

Each week you will get a Wednesday Folder. This folder contains all graded papers. All papers should be reviewed, then sign the folder. Sometimes we will send a letter for parents to read in the folder. This is to ensure that you see it. In addition, Scholastic book orders will also be sent in the Wednesday folder on a monthly basis.

Each month there will be a chance to earn a free pizza from Pizza Hut, through the Book-It program. This can be done by passing four Accelerated Reader tests or getting 5 points. Each month an AR report will be run, if you passed four tests or got 5 points you get a pizza.

As with all organized classrooms, following the rules is imperative. If rules are not followed there are consequences that follow. The consequences are as follows 1) a warning, 2) a check on your behavior card, 3) a note, 4) a phone call to parents, 5) Principal. If, the behavior card is "checked" 2 times you will receive a mark in your Wednesday Folder. If you receive more than 5 checks in your Wednesday Folder a parent conference will be scheduled at the parents' convenience. If you get 4 checks in one month you will miss Fun Friday.

Of course, there are many rewards for positive behavior. Some rewards are homework passes, prize bin, and a pass to sit by a friend on any Friday. You can earn these rewards when you collect 20 tickets. Tickets are given out randomly for positive behavior.

All homework needs to be turned in the next day. If homework is not turned in, it will be marked in the following Wednesday Folder to be done. It is very important that homework is done because it counts for a grade. Each subject has a homework grade. All of the homework will average into one grade for each subject.

For safety reasons, we do not use names of students on the Internet. To make it possible to display birthdays, history of the year, and student work we use student numbers instead of names. Make sure to keep your list of student numbers near your computer so you know which student is being listed. The student list will be sent home the first week of school. Please check each page often to see if your number has been displayed.

In September, we will start multiplication drills to get your "license to multiply." These drills will be given on Tuesday and Thursday. Each drill contains 55 problems, and will last 3 minutes. When your child passes 10 of these drills they will receive their "license to multiply." Once they have their license they will begin to take division drills. It is very important that your child takes this very seriously. We will be doing long division in the spring, and it is very hard to accomplish without the knowledge of multiplication and division facts.

We will have review drills on Monday and Wednesday. These drills will include addition and subtraction. Each drill will count for a grade. So, if your child gets 40/50 they would have an 80% B. Any missed problems will be sent home to be fixed as homework in the Wednesday Folder.

Please make sure that all of your supplies can fit into your pencil pouch. As the year goes by we tend to keep many things in our pouches. Please be sure to clean them from time to time. This will keep your desk super clean.

If your child is absent from school, please remember to try to have someone pick up homework for him/her to do as soon as possible. Simply call the office and let them know who may be able to bring your child's work home. Also, please be sure to send absence notes to school the very next day, since they are necessary for your child's file. Thank you so much for your cooperation.

Please check the calendar to see what is scheduled this month.
